Product Description

High Hardness Wear Resistant Chrome Carbide Overlay (CCO) Plate

  • Chromium carbide composite cladding fusion bonded to a mild steel backing.
  • Plate hardness ranges from HRC58-65.
  • Maintains wear resistance in temperatures up to 600 °C.
  • Natural stress relieving cracks are normal in the hard matrix.
  • Available base materials: Q235, A36, 310S, NM400, HARDOX450.

Chemical Composition

Microstructure

The microstructure consists of a high density of chrome carbide crystals in a tough alloy matrix. These crystals act like stones in concrete, providing an ultra-hard surface that resists abrasion significantly longer than standard alloy steel.

FAQ
What is the typical hardness of your wear plates?
Our chromium carbide overlay plates typically range from 58 to 63 HRC on the Rockwell scale, providing up to five times the hardness of mild steel.
Can these plates be used in high-temperature environments?
Yes, our complex carbide products are designed to maintain full wear resistance in temperatures up to 600°C (1100°F).
Why are there fine cracks on the surface of the plate?
Fine cracks perpendicular to the welding bead are a result of natural stress relieving during the cooling of the very hard matrix and do not affect performance.
What cutting methods are recommended for fabrication?
Plasma cutting is the most recommended method, though waterjet and laser cutting can also be used. Conventional machining is not recommended due to high hardness.
Are custom sizes and base materials available?
Yes, we can customize the base material (e.g., Q235, Stainless Steel, NM400) and provide specific thicknesses and dimensions to meet your application needs.
What industries commonly use these wear-resistant solutions?
Our products are widely used in mining, cement production, thermal power plants, dredging operations, and heavy material handling.
