🚀 Product Description

Hastelloy B3 steel plate is a high-performance nickel-based alloy product. Containing about 65% nickel, along with elements like molybdenum and cobalt, it's an upgraded version of Hastelloy B2, boasting enhanced thermal stability and corrosion resistance.

In terms of properties, it excels in resisting corrosion from various non-oxidizing media, such as hydrochloric acid at any temperature and concentration, as well as sulfuric, acetic, and phosphoric acids. It also has high resistance to pitting, stress corrosion cracking, and knife-edge corrosion.

During processing, it has a relatively high elongation, which is beneficial for cold-pressing forming. However, it's harder than austenitic stainless steel and has a more obvious work-hardening tendency. Welding preferably uses tungsten inert gas arc welding to protect the weld from oxidation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main advantage of Hastelloy B3 over B2?
Hastelloy B3 offers significantly improved thermal stability and enhanced corrosion resistance, making it easier to fabricate and more reliable in high-temperature environments.
Which corrosive media is Hastelloy B3 best suited for?
It is exceptionally resistant to hydrochloric acid at all concentrations and temperatures, as well as sulfuric, phosphoric, and acetic acids.
What are the typical applications for this alloy?
It is widely used in the chemical processing industry for reactors, pipelines, heat exchangers, and in petrochemical transport where high corrosion resistance is critical.
What welding methods are recommended for Hastelloy B3?
Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) arc welding is the preferred method to ensure the weld is properly protected from oxidation during the process.
Does this material handle cold forming well?
Yes, it has relatively high elongation which is beneficial for cold-pressing, although it work-hardens more quickly than standard stainless steels.
